The CHERRY eHealth Terminal ST-1506, approved by gematik, is the modern and hygienic solution for workplaces in the healthcare sector. Equipped with a high-resolution color display and a robust glass surface, the CHERRY eHealth terminal can be operated intuitively and easily disinfected. It is ideal for use in doctor's offices, clinics and pharmacies and is also a real design highlight. For telematics infrastructure applications, the terminal has four card slots with which the eGK (electronic health card) and the healthcare professional card (eHBA) can be read in, as well as the necessary security cards (SMC-B, gSMC-KT). In addition, the CHERRY eHealth Terminal supports reading contactless eGK and eHBA cards. In addition to the modern design and easy disinfection, the CHERRY eHealth Terminal impresses with flexible technical connection solutions (operation without a power supply via Power-Over-Ethernet, connection via LAN or USB) and the web service supports integration into existing management interfaces.

Your entry into the telematics infrastructure and the German digital healthcare system: The eHealth terminal from CHERRY. With its modern design, wipeable and disinfectable surfaces and four card slots, the eHealth terminal is not only technically impressive, but is also a real visual highlight on your reception desk or in the treatment room. Since gematik approval in March 2021, the CHERRY eHealth Terminal has been an indispensable part of many doctors' surgeries, clinics and pharmacies and now, with the eHealth PIN pad, it has also gotten the ideal addition for many telematics infrastructure applications.

The Display

Easy to disinfect and stable: the glass surface of the eHealth terminal ensures optimum hygiene and thus helps to minimise the spread of germs and viruses. Its high-resolution colour display makes it easy to use and intuitive to operate. 

The card slots

The true strengths of the eHealth terminal lie within: Four card slots and a contactless reader enable authentication and connection to the digital healthcare network - the telematics infrastructure. The electronic health card (eGK) and the health professional card (HBA) can be accommodated here, as can the SMC-B and gSMC-KT. An ESD discharge for electrostatically charged cards ensures stable operation in all seasons. 

The connections

The choice is yours: the CHERRY eHealth Terminal can be connected to your network via LAN (power supply or PoE) or USB. The USB connection is particularly simple and convenient thanks to the CHERRY ‘eHealth USB-LAN Proxy’ software. In addition, the CHERRY eHealth PIN pad can also be connected to the eHealth Terminal via USB.  

Remote management

Thanks to the REST API, all eHealth terminal settings (e.g. entering the SMC-B PIN) can be carried out remotely via a web browser. The VPN client also supports the use of TI-as-a-Service infrastructures. The terminal is therefore future-proof for processes in the evolving TI. 

Perfect combination: eHealth terminal and PIN pad

The CHERRY eHealth PIN pad PP-1516 is an optional accessory and complements the card terminal for a holistic, modern solution for workplaces in the healthcare sector.  

Telematics infrastructure applications (e.g. eMP, NFDM, ePA) require the patient to enter a PIN. The easily disinfectable PIN pad is placed on the patient's side, making it easy and convenient to enter the PIN. In conjunction with the card terminal, the PP-1516 PIN pad ensures a clear separation between patients and healthcare professionals, making the workflow even more efficient and optimising hygiene

Firmware Updates

The latest technical features are ensured with the firmware updates. Update 4.0.0 in particular includes the majority of the terminal's listed features. Even more powerful. Even simpler. Even more flexible.

From FW 3.x, the e-health terminal ST-1506 supports the establishment of a direct VPN connection between the terminal and a VPN gateway. This allows connectors that are operated in a data centre to establish a direct secure connection to the terminal in the service provider environment. This may be necessary for TI-as-a-Service environments, for example. Reliability is increased and maintenance costs are minimised 

Prerequisites: 

  • The data centre in which the connector is operated is accessible via an IPSec VPN service 
  • IP address of the VPN server 
  • X.509 CA certificate of the server 
  • Access data: MSCHAP via user name/password & EAP TLS via certificate-based authentication 
  • Administration via web interface or web service 

This security card prescribed by the BSI serves to increase the security level in the TI, particularly with regard to patient data. 

All previous gSMC-KT versions are technically supported; from the changeover to elliptic curves, only the new gSMC-KT 2.1 can be used 

Note on runtime: The decision on how long which crypto-algorithms will be used in the German healthcare system is made by gematik in consultation with the BSI. This may result in deviations in the runtime of individual cards in the field when using the gSMC-KT in the telematics infrastructure. 

Using the REST API, all terminal settings can be made remotely via the web interface or web service. 

This has decisive advantages: 

  • Increased convenience through read/write access 
  • Time savings during installation and remote maintenance 
  • Extended monitoring due to increased range of functions 

The REST-API function also enables remote PIN entry of the SMC-B and is therefore ideal for larger institutions with data centres or for TI-as-a-Service environments.
