Acer Predator Aethon 300 in detail

Although the chassis of the Acer Predator Aethon 300 is quite large with a length of 440 millimeters and a width of 131 millimeters, the keyboard looks great on your desk and takes up comparatively little space. One reason for this is the lack of a palm rest. This does not mean, however, that the Acer Predator Aethon 300 lacks ergonomics: the gently curved design makes typing much easier.

Its design is relatively basic due to a no-frills black chassis. This also allows the LED lighting to be much more effective. The exclusively blue background lighting matches the CHERRY MX Blue switches and significantly enhance the appearance of the keyboard.

Ergonomic design and easy plug-and-play installation

Even though the Acer Predator Aethon 300 lacks a palm rest, neither comfort nor ergonomics suffer from it. The chassis of the gaming keyboard curves slightly upwards from front to back, which not only makes typing easier, but also relieves tension on the wrists. The switching characteristics of the CHERRY MX Blue switches also contribute to its ergonomics – more on this below.

The gaming keyboard is connected with a sleeved, 1.8-meter USB cable. Thanks to plug-and-play compatibility it’s not necessary to install any software: you can use the keyboard straight away.

Ten pre-programmed lighting modes

Unlike most other modern keyboards, the Predator Aethon 300 does not feature RGB lighting – but that doesn’t mean Acer did not include useful background lighting. Even key is equipped with a LED that shines in a rich aquamarine blue and in four different brightness levels.

Ten pre-programmed lighting modes provide interesting visual effects and give the keyboard an even more elegant look. You can easily switch between the different effects and LED brightness with a keyboard shortcut.

Responsive performance

Acer has equipped the Predator Aethon 300 with N-key rollover and anti-ghosting. This guarantees that all inputs are reliably processed, even with complex key combinations or rapid successive keystrokes. Recognizing multiple, simultaneous keystrokes is a clear advantage for fast and hectic games.

Acer Predator Aethon 300: Built upon CHERRY MX Blue switches

For the Predator Aethon 300, Acer relies on the well-known and popular CHERRY MX Blue switches.

Remove the keycaps and you’ll see the tactile and clicky switches with a travel of 2.2 millimeters and an actuation force of 60 centinewtons. This results in precise input with an acoustic feedback that you can always rely on. The relatively long travel and higher actuation force significantly reduce incorrect inputs as well.

Conclusion

The Acer Predator Aethon 300 doesn’t just appeal with its basic and elegant appearance, but also with its ergonomic shape. This allows you to type on the keyboard in a position that’s relaxed for your wrists. The keyboard reliably processes keystrokes thanks to N-Key rollover and the blue LED lighting skillfully completes the look of this gaming keyboard, fitting perfectly with its CHERRY MX Blue switches. These provide precise and reliable inputs for both typing and gaming.
